I agree that there is an increasing trend in the business of online matchmatching. This is partly due to the increasingly competitive society where people have little time to perform any form of activity. Individuals who are constantly busy might not have much time to find a partner to settle down with and would in turn get the matchmaking websites to find a suitable partner for them.
However, i do not agree with the point that online matchmaking is a very stable and profitable business. Undeniably, online matchmaking is a profitable business however, it is not as stable. This is due to the misuse of the matchmaking websites. There are certain irresponsible individuals who set up an account for other other reasons. For intance, there is an increase in the cases of nigerian scams which involve match-making websites. Due to this, many may think twice about finding a partner through matchmaking websites and this would not make the online matchmaking industry very stable.

I agree with dyanah that online matchmaking is not very stable and profitable. Another reason is cause the younger generations of society may not be open to matchmaking as they find it shameful. Therefore, there is a limited target market group in which this online matchmaking can be targeted to.

I do agree that online matchmaking services are indeed getting more popular as some people might find it embarrassing to enter a matchmaking firm as they could be deemed as 'unwanted' or not 'good-looking'
ReplyDeleteTherefore assessing to online matchmaking services allows the public to acess their prospective partners at their own time and save the 'embarrassment' they face from entering a matchmaking firm.
I agree that some people may be skeptical of employing the services of online matchmaking sites because they fear being cheated of their money and personal information if they sign up with such scamming sites. However, there are some main matchmaking sites that have been used by many people and are largely trustworthy, thus people can use these sites if they are eager to go for matchmaking.

ReplyDeleteI feel that the increasing trend in the business of online matchmaking highlights the fact that the world people live in now is so fast-paced that people are so busy with their work that they may be sacrificing the time for the more mundane things in life like attending social events which would increase their social network and also increase their chances of finding their partner. After all, whats the point of working so much if u cannot enjoy your life?
